Server preparation
Prerequisites.
Use your everyday computer to administer a Linux server you control.
- Linux with systemd, nginx and administrator access.
- Node.js 22.18 or newer and npm.
- A domain pointing to the server, with a working HTTPS certificate.
- An unused URL path, or the existing Wotbox instance you intend to upgrade.
- Persistent storage for quarantine, private/public data, apps and backups.
- Inbound HTTPS and outbound HTTPS for installation and node communication.
The beta has been exercised on Ubuntu 25.10 and Node 22.23.2. No universal minimum RAM or disk size has been established. SQLite is embedded; no separate database or SMTP provider is required.
Preparation with an agent
Ask your agent to inspect the server, domain, HTTPS certificate, nginx routes, available storage and backup arrangements. Ask it to identify the target instance and preserve other sites before installing.
The browser dashboard works independently of an agent. A standalone MCP bridge requires an agent client that can launch its command in a supported environment. Linux is verified; desktop and mobile bridge support should not be assumed.
Where files go
For the default main instance: immutable releases under /opt/wotbox/main/releases, private data under /var/lib/wotbox/main, configuration at /etc/wotbox/main.json. Do not install over another project's source folder.
